We're excited to announce the integration of Affirm, a powerful "Buy Now, Pay Later" solution, into your Dubsado account. This new feature is designed to boost your sales, increase conversions, and provide more flexibility for your clients. This feature is on and live in eligible accounts. If you wish to turn off, follow these instructions.

What is Affirm?

Affirm is a flexible payment solution that allows your clients to split their payments into manageable installments, while you receive the full payment upfront.

Availability

Affirm is currently only available for eligible businesses in the United States and Canada (more info eligibility below)

Key features

  1. Automatic Integration: Affirm is now automatically enabled for all eligible Dubsado accounts.
  2. Seamless Checkout: Appears on invoices over $50 for the full balance.
  3. Flexible Payment Options: Clients can choose from various installment plans.
  4. Upfront Payment: You receive 100% of the funds immediately (minus the transaction fees, of course).
  5. Risk-Free: Affirm handles all payment collection and assumes any repayment risks.

How it works

1. Your client clicks pay now on the invoice total Affirm at checkout for eligible invoices.

2. They choose a payment plan that fits their budget.

3. You receive the full payment amount upfront from Affirm.

4. Affirm manages the installment payments with your client.

Affirm payment options for your clients

  • For purchases up to $250: 4 interest-free payments every 2 weeks
  • For orders between $150 and $30K: Installment plans up to 36 months (including 0% and interest-bearing options)
  • Payment limits: $50 minimum, $30K maximum, with a maximum credit limit of $20K

Important limitations

  • Affirm cannot be used on autopay, recurring invoices or with surcharging.
  • It's only available for one-time, full-balance payments.
  • Certain business categories are not eligible (see Blocked Categories section).

Standard pricing

The regular rate for Affirm transactions is 6%. While this is higher than standard processing fees, the benefits often outweigh the cost due to increased sales, higher conversion rates, and improved cash flow.

How to use

Affirm is automatically enabled for all eligible accounts. No additional setup is required.

Eligibility criteria for Affirm to appear

  1. You're using Dubsado Payments.
  2. Your business is located in the US or Canada.
  3. The total invoice amount (including tip) is greater than $50.
  4. The client is paying the entire invoice balance.
  5. The invoice is not a recurring invoice, scheduler invoice, or an invoice with autopay already enabled.
  6. Your business category is not on the list of blocked categories (see below).

Blocked categories for Affirm

Please note that Affirm is not available for certain business categories. The top 10 blocked categories relevant to Dubsado users are:

  1. Consulting, Management and Public Relations Services (MCC: 7392)
  2. Business Services Not Elsewhere Classified (MCC: 7399)
  3. Computer Programming, Data Processing and Integrated System Design Services (MCC: 7372)
  4. Accounting, Auditing and Bookkeeping Services (MCC: 8931)
  5. Contractors, Special Trade Contractors–not elsewhere classified (MCC: 1799)
  6. Schools And Educational Services–Not Elsewhere Classified (MCC: 8299)
  7. Commercial Art, Graphics, Photography (MCC: 7333) (Note: this is just commercial photography and not general photography)
  8. Attorneys, Legal Services (MCC: 8111)
  9. Motion Picture and Video Tape Production and Distribution (MCC: 7829)
  10. Debt, Marriage, Personal–Counseling Services (MCC: 7277)

If your business falls into one of these categories, you may not be eligible to use Affirm.

How to disable Affirm

If you prefer not to offer Affirm, you can turn it off by going to Settings âž” Payments and invoices and toggling off the Affirm option.
