Mid October Changelog

The last few weeks went to the details you touch every day. Invoice amounts and tax add up the way you’d expect, dates and times stay where you set them, the payment plan warning is back and Dubsado is easier to use on your phone. Everything that changed between mid October to early November is here.

Improvements

  • Mobile browser improvements: On phones, modals, popovers and drawers now fit the screen as the browser bars show and hide. Tapping a field on iPhone doesn’t zoom the page anymore, and email and phone fields bring up the matching keyboard. The phone layout also loads right away, with no flash of the desktop layout.
  • Payment plan total warning is back: When your installments add up to more or less than the invoice total, a warning tells you by how much, both in the payment plan editor and on the invoice. Fixed installments on a $0 invoice now show their real amount too.
  • Clearer upcoming and overdue totals on Home: The overdue, upcoming, total lifetime earned and expected revenue cards are now labeled “All time” and hold steady when you change the date range. Overdue installments are counted once, under overdue.
  • Canadian time zones: Alberta Time and Manitoba Time are now in the time zone picker, searching for a city like Calgary or Vancouver finds the right zone, and duplicate entries are gone. BC, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Manitoba stopped changing their clocks on November 1. If your browser hasn’t caught up yet, Dubsado corrects it so your dates and times save on the day you picked.
  • Appointment cancel and reschedule links: The links in your appointment emails and calendar events now carry a secure code for each appointment, so they keep working for your clients.
  • Connections settings, reorganized: Settings → Connections is now split into tabs. Integrations holds video conferencing, accounting and Zapier, and apps you’ve connected to Dubsado have their own tab.
  • Heads up on proposal completion messages: A proposal’s completion message is skipped when the proposal includes a contract or an invoice. The form builder now tells you that, so you know why clients aren’t seeing it.
  • Clearer time zone wording: Time zone notes across date pickers and scheduler availability now say “workspace’s time zone”.

Bug fixes

Invoices and payments

  • Line item amounts: An invoice line’s amount now shows price times quantity, with discounts and tax applied in the totals where they belong. The new line item dialog matches.
  • Invoice tax with fixed discounts: An invoice with a fixed dollar discount on a taxed line item could calculate very wrong tax. Tax now calculates correctly.
  • Invoice list pages and exports: The open tab and the Home invoices widget could show short or empty pages with the wrong count. Pages now fill properly, totals match, and a CSV export from the open tab leaves out paid and closed invoices.
  • Transactions export: Exporting transactions to CSV now returns only the rows that match your created date filter.
  • Xero stays in sync: Deleting a payment or an invoice now removes the matching record in Xero, so your books stay in step with Dubsado. Payment delete also has a “Remove from Xero” option.
  • Pause and downgrade reminder emails: Reminder emails now arrive before a paused account resumes, and you get a heads up 7 days before a Premier to Starter downgrade.

Forms, proposals and templates

  • Forms sent to a contact: Sending a form or contract by email now marks it sent and records the time, including forms that aren’t attached to a project.
  • Package edits in proposal forms: Changes made in the edit package panel are kept when you save the form or close the panel, without clicking Apply first.
  • Template editor toolbar: Long email templates now scroll inside the editor, so the formatting toolbar stays on screen.
  • Smart fields and formatting: A smart field whose closing brace got caught in a font or style change now fills in correctly. If a smart field really is broken, you get a message naming it, and the email or package still opens.
  • Uploaded fonts on custom domains: Fonts you upload now display on public pages served from your own domain in Chrome and Firefox.
  • Renamed sample content: If you renamed and rebuilt the sample form templates from signup, your templates list shows up again.
  • Form code blocks: Code blocks on forms are now a paid plan feature.

Scheduling and calendar

  • Appointment alerts: Rescheduling or canceling an appointment from inside your account doesn’t create a “client rescheduled” or “client canceled” update anymore. Those alerts only fire when the client makes the change. Clients still get their reschedule and cancellation emails.
  • Appointments showing twice: If you were assigned to a project both directly and through a team, its appointments appeared twice in your calendar list. Each appointment now shows once.
  • Apply a scheduler more than once: Applying a scheduler template to a project now always adds a fresh copy, so one project can hold several copies of the same scheduler.
  • Scheduler description: Typing in a scheduler’s calendar event description keeps your cursor in place while autosave runs, and nothing you typed gets dropped.
  • Calendar event type filters: Your event types selection is remembered for each calendar, so it stays put when you leave and come back.
  • Date picker keeps your time: Opening a dated item doesn’t flip a timed entry to all day or rewrite it to 9:00 AM anymore. Picking a day on an empty timed range fills in 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in your workspace’s time zone.

Time zones

  • Dates after a time zone change: Changing your workspace time zone used to leave dates saving a day early or late until everyone logged out and back in. Payment plan installments, recurring invoice dates and coupon expirations now follow the new time zone right away, for you and your team.
  • Calendar events in your workspace time zone: Events sent to your connected calendar now use your current workspace time zone. Re-sync also fixes events that were already pushed in the old zone.
  • Correct times for Canadian time zones: Dates and times on or after November 1 were showing an hour off in forms, PDFs and other places for British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. They now show the correct time.
  • GMT offsets for Canadian time zones: Appointment emails, scheduler notes and date displays now show a GMT offset, like 10:00 AM (GMT-5), for Canadian time zones. Other time zones are unchanged.

Email

  • Real reasons for email failures: When a send or an email connection fails, you now see the actual reason, like a credentials problem or the mail server’s reply. Microsoft accounts that still had old SMTP credentials saved can send again.
  • Email composer: Composing from a project now opens with the client already in the To field. The notetaker opt-in prompt in settings also stops appearing for workspaces that already opted in.
  • SPF help links: The SPF links in Settings → Emails now open the current help articles.

Projects, contacts and flows

  • Contact search: Searching a contact by full name now finds them even when the saved name has an extra space in it. New names are saved without leading or trailing spaces.
  • Flows search: Searching flows by title works when the title has characters like parentheses or periods.
  • Applying a flow with a taxed invoice item: Flows with a create invoice action that includes a taxed line item from legacy Dubsado now apply without an error, whether you apply to one project, several at once or through a flow block in a form.
  • Project stats: Projects without a lead source are counted once on Home and Insights, and the projects per week average covers every week in your date range.
  • Project assignee visibility: A project’s assignees can only be viewed by people who have access to that project.

Account and navigation

  • Connecting a Google account: Turning on Google sign-in from settings only changes the account you’re signed in to. If the connection doesn’t finish, you land back on settings with a clear message.
  • Login page: Opening the login page while you’re already signed in takes you to Home.
  • Menus and buttons on touch devices: Form template menus, table row checkboxes, update actions and copy buttons now stay visible on touchscreens and tablets, and appear for keyboard users too.
